The 1, 2 and 3.... (IYKYK)

For the most part, if you ask me what I do I will say, "I'm a rootworker." But that's not all I do spiritually. And there is a reason for that...
I've noticed that modern day adults have an aversion to studying. By studying, I mean reading books, taking classes, etc. I've undergone continuing education courses in my other formal vocation; why would I stop now? I am teachable and can learn from anyone. Even if it's what not to do. It's in the study that I have come across new concepts that interest me. If something interests me, I dive in headfirst and try to consume any and all information I can find. After doing the knowledge, I start playing with it until I understand all the nuances. Then I add it to my practice. Over time, one practice has led to another, and I now have my own unique walk.
Now... be mindful... it's okay to learn and okay to practice. It is not okay to mix, dilute and tamper... Whatever do you mean Serenity? When you learn something new, it's okay to practice, but it's not okay to change the original system. I'll give an example. I'm an initiated Palera, I'm also a practitioner of Ifa. I don't try to give Nsasi and Sango the same offering at the same time. Nope. Nada. If I'm doing Palo, I'm doing Palo. If I'm doing Ifa, I'm doing Ifa. If I'm doing Hoodoo, I'm doing Hoodoo. So on and so forth. I learn. I don't mix. Now every now and then, something comes to me that I feel would be useful in one of my practices. I then go to that practice's spirits and first ask them if it's okay to do this. I divine for their answer. If it's no, it's no. I'll never ask again. If it's yes, then I'll ask them to show me how they would like for me to do it. And then I wait on them to answer. I don't just jump on it. Changing a system to what makes it easier for you... is NOT your right to change. Then teaching others your way rather than the traditional way will set you up for karmic retribution. You really want that smoke with your spirits? Look at what happened to Carlton Pearson....
But there can be evolution. I tell my students that a lot of the old work needs a modern remix because we don't live the way people lived 75 years ago. Back in the day, every home had a bathtub. That's not true today. Back in the day you could do foot traffic work. Today, folks rarely walk in the dirt. You used to be able to throw work at a person's front door. Today most folks use the garage door that is often unavailable because a lot of people have automatic garage door openers. Evolution in any given practice happens. But to change the core of the mechanics will destroy the practice. Changing the mechanics, changes the result and if your workings don't manifest, what's the point?
Am I saying learn? Am I saying don't learn? There's no harm in knowledge. What's harmful is using the knowledge in a damaging way.
Dueces!
