***** WARNING HOTEPERY AHEAD!!!! ******

We give up things when we allow new technology into our lives. I get it. Technology is supposed to make our lives easier. It may. But I'll ask you, how many phone numbers do you remember by heart?

I love books. I'm the daughter of a librarian. Books and insurance paid for my education. I love my books old school. I have an active library card. I want to curl up and hold them... turn the pages... stick my bookmark in... That doesn't mean I don't read smut on my tablet. But only free smut. I love the whole experience of reading. What I love most about reading is how I'm able to form my own images in my mind from the words. I create the movie in my mind. Books can only describe but so much. B.U.T..... watching TV/movies/reels/tiktoks/etc takes that away. The less you read, the less you can read. TBH... I either read a book or see the movie. Never both.

Your brain is an organ. And just like any organ, if you don't use it you lose it. By only engaging in moving media your mind can't do what it needs to do. It stifles creativity. And over time your ability to read rapidly and comprehension decreases. I recently had a conversation with an older gentleman who confided that he couldn't read well and wanted to improve that. I told him, practice makes perfect. I advised him to get a library (free) card and pick out something that interested him and READ. He couldn't claim to be too busy. Anyone I'd consider older is retired. He told me that he'd never considered that. But that is how you grow a skill.... by practicing. As we get older, we have to adopt activities that keeps the mind sharp.

So I'm going to ask you.... When was the last time you read a book?

Dueces!
